Two decades of images that brand themselves into the mind — apartheid, occupation, ethnic cleansing, genocide, and the resistance that refuses to be erased.
Nidal El Khairy is a Palestinian political artist and illustrator based in Amman, Jordan. Across two decades, he has created some of the most iconic depictions of Israeli apartheid, military occupation, ethnic cleansing, and genocide in the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
His distinctive style is instantly recognisable. Like the work of his predecessor, the Palestinian political cartoonist Naji al-Ali, El Khairy's images brand themselves into the mind. His image Starvation appears in the mission statement of the Middle East Children's Alliance.
El Khairy earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell, then spent four and a half years in Montreal working with grassroots social movements — Solidarity Across Borders, No One is Illegal, and the Coalition Against the Deportation of Palestinian Refugees. He is an active member of the Naji Art Collective, which creates and distributes art in solidarity with grassroots and anti-colonial movements worldwide.
